The reputation of Fort Worth for the next 10 or 20 years will be based on your actions in the next few days and weeks.
Gay-Bashing by Fort Worth Police
Swift and sure action is the only chance you have to save your city’s reputation, and yet you haven’t even made a statement and no investigation into this brutality has been announced. Joel Burns, Sal Espino, and Kathleen Hicks have the right idea. You SHOULD have been out in front of this situation, but the least you can do is support their efforts.
If you screw this up, it’s not just Fort Worth, or Texas, or even the US that will know about it. Everyone is going to know about it. The days of having a nice quite gay-bashing out of the media spotlight are long gone. Step up and do the right thing and launch an investigation into the behavior of these police. And if the investigation finds they were abusive, PROSECUTE THEM.
