So, I found a book I used in High School (in the dark ages before Internet Access) to write things down in. Snippets and quotes and the occasional thought, poem, what have you. It was not a random notebook, the things that went into this were at least polished to some extent.
Anyway, I found a poem I wrote 25 years ago (When I was 15) and while most of it I wouldn’t leave as it is, the conclusion struck me as, well, quite good. Of course, I wrote it, so my perceptions are a bit colored. Anyway, I post it here, partly for someone else to read, partly to preserve it, partly to see it indexed.
You know a thorn can main
But a lover does the same
A gem will reflect light
And a Fool will marvel at the sight
A fool such as me,
Who sees not the gold, but the beauty of the shine-Lewis Butler, 1983
