Well, finally the iTunes/Beatles deal looks like it will finally come to pass on 05-09-2007, at Apple’s upcoming special event titled, “The beat goes onâ€. The rumor mill is churning about a new iPod and new nano (already called the ‘fatPod’ due to its rather squat shape).
I expect that the rumors have the event pretty much nailed, but The Steve is always ready with a surprise or two. Will we see a special edition Yellow Submarine iPod? I hope so.
The new ‘touchPod’—or is it the iPod touch? I think I prefer touchPod—is rumored to be a lot like the iPhone, only without all the extra stuff. Still sporting a hard drive, it will come in 60GB and 120GB versions and feature a touch interface. Like the iPhone’s one ‘home’ button, the new iPod will have a single button, though it appears that that button will double as a selection button. The touch screen will feature ‘virtual’ buttons to control song selection and will feature the CoverFlow view as the new default view for the music collection.
I’m pretty excited about the new touchPod and it may be enough to overcome my reluctance to purchase what is, essentially, a first generation product.
